The SBG Syllabi Cohort plans out all readings six months in advance and all readings are centered around progressive Black feminist, Black liberation and abolitionist theory for an adult centered reading community.

Therefore we do not accept submissions from authors who are: police, prosecutors, and/or Criminal Justice reformist. We do not accept books that are religious, self-help or centered on heteronormative definitions of love.

While we do occasionally read Young Adult literature, we do not accept children's book submissions. Our YA selections center marginalized voices, disabilities, queer and non-binary identity.
